How to Use Image Generator in Google Docs

The Image Generator allows you to create images from text using AI models directly within Google Docs. Follow these steps to generate images seamlessly:

Step 1: Open the Image Generator

  1. Open your Google Docs document.
  2. Go to the sidebar and open AiAssistWorks.
  3. If AiAssistWorks is not yet installed, go to Google Workspace Marketplace to install it.
  4. Navigate to Image Generator from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Enter Text for Image Generation

  1. Click on the Enter Text for Image Generation field.
  2. Type a description of the image you want to generate.

Step 3: Select an AI Model

  1. Click on the AI Models dropdown.
  2. Choose between available models, such as:
    • Straico - openai/dall-e-3
    • OpenAI - dall-e-3

Step 4: Choose Image Size

  1. Click on the Image Size dropdown.
  2. Select one of the available options:
    • Square: Generates a square image with dimensions typically around 1024x1024 pixels.
    • Portrait: Generates a vertically oriented image, generally around 1024x1792 pixels, suitable for mobile-friendly visuals.
    • Landscape: Generates a wider image, usually 1792x1024 pixels, ideal for presentations or wide displays.

Step 5: Select Number of Images

  1. Click on the Number of Images dropdown.
  2. Choose how many images you want to generate (1-4).

Step 6: Optional - Insert Image at Cursor Position

  • Toggle the switch Add image to current cursor in document to enable/disable automatic insertion of the generated image.

Step 7: Generate Image

  1. Click the Generate Image button.
  2. Wait for the AI to process and display the generated image.
  3. If enabled, the image will be added directly to your document at the cursor’s position.
